All praise to HP (that is Hewlett Packard computers). I brought a HP laptop from Comet stores at the end of December 07 (good pre-Christmas prices) but did not give it to her until her birthday in mid March. During this time it was not used and sealed in its box. After her Birthday its only used about once every 1 - 2 weeks, but last week it was running and I took out the AC charger and the laptop died right away. Hmm. So plugged the AC back in and saw that the battery was not charging. I rung Comet who said call HP, which I did. This was on a Saturday afternoon and the issue was resolved by updating the BIOS. The HP service lady said she would ring me back on the Monday to see if the issue was sorted which she did, but I told her that we had not used the laptop since then, so she said she would call back in a weeks time. anyway, last Saturday we started the laptop up and was a bit dismayed to see the battery had only retained 50% charge, it had lost 50% in a week.. now I expect batteries to run down but 50% in a week seemed a bit high, so I rung HP again and they said they thought that was OK but would pass the info on to the person who was handling the case and they would ring back on Monday and sure enough they did. I explained the discharge issue and decided it was not correct and they would send me a replacement battery. I was very impressed by this customer service as it really was helpful, friendly proactive and actually sorted the issues as well. HP Support is based in south Africa, I guessed by the strong accents but I did ask. I asked how the weather was and she said it was nice at 19 degrees, I replied we were OK here at the moment as it was 28! :-). So great customer service HP, thank you, I am very impressed, well done and you have a potential re-order client in me. It’s a shame that not all customer service is as good and I must say that PC-wise it is the best that I can remember.
’til he next time.
Keep safe.
Scotty.
