R44 update - new feature!

Hi All,

I am pleased to be able to release a small video of a hence ’secret’ feature of the upcoming R44 - authentic operating emergency floats. This is for both FS2004 and FSX. This is in addition to the fixed floats option. You can take off from the skids with the floats stored and when in flight activate the emergency floats and then land and float on water or land on the floats back on dry land - the operation is authentic to the real machine - I hope that you like this unique feature. As regards its release, it is still being worked on but I am hoping that it will be before Christmas (07!). Thanks for your interest and patience.

Till the next time.

Keep safe.

Now that’s something new, I can see a few SAR missions emerging out of this!

Well Done!

Cheers

Looking good Scotty. Any chance of making this model compatible with FS Repaint? I’ve tried to load the Schweizer 300 in FS Repaint but the model will not display at all and this is the only way I can do my repaints. Thanks for the updates and I look forward to the release.

Mr Scotty and team…….

very Impressed…….

A brand new R44,with floats for christmas….

You have no idea how happy I am.

Regards Mark

Hi George,

It should be fine in FSRepaint for FSX and FS2004 as should be the FSX version of the S300CBi.

Regards

Scotty

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your kind comments.

Scotty

Hey Scotty, very nice. I have been looking forward to this R44 for some time. I do have one question if this is OK to ask? Will the R44 have reflective glass inside the VC on the FS9 version? Thanks in advance.

Best regards, Jeff

Thank you for your response Scotty, now to wait for the R44 to be released so I can paint some TV news schemes on her ;O)

Hi Jeff,

You know - I don’t know! I will have a look.

Scotty

Hello Scotty, What a really nice touch :o)

My cash is waiting….

And before Christmas too… Hoooooooray !!

Very best regards, Tony

Great idea to have a “Blogs” tab on the main page. Much easier to get here now.

Hi John,

Yes thanks - we have been after some kind of blogs tab for some while but it had not been a priority for the web design team amongst all the other higher priority items, but now we are cooking on gas!

Scotty

I know I’m being picky now, but will there be an animation for when you inflate them? ;)

Alex - Err no - what you see is what you get - I think its a pretty neat feature that I have not seen on any other model so I think we are doing quite well with what we have - To quote a quote “The impossible we do immediately, miracles take a little longer … ”

Maybe in the future when graphics and sims have improved yet further still, but at the moment - no.

Scotty

WOW I can’t wait I work at KGTU and we have 2 brand new R-44s and one older R-44 at our FBO so I know this is the best looking R-44 for MSFS I have seen.
Great work!

With the floats on the chopper there is anouther helicoter that has them, and thats the hovercontrol 412 by jordan moore, but im pretty sure the r44 will be top class, also i think it looks just perfect well done! best wishes !spider!

Hey Scotty, just curious if you were able to find out anything yet on the internal reflective glass in the VC for the FS9 version? Thanks :)

Best regards, Jeff

Jeff,

I have had a quick butchers in FS2004 and there does appear to be glass reflections showing although they seem to be less ‘effective’ than the ones that I have seen in FSX - I guess that is probably down to the two different sims capabilities and potentials rather than anything else as such.

Hope that helps.

Scotty.

Does this herald the release of Just Flight’s new mission pack: RescueD Pilot? :p

Will the R44 beable to perform autorotation? I have the Schweizer 300 that just pretty much falls out of the sky when attempting an auto’s/power off landings. The Bell 206 that come with FSX autorotates very well though.

Steve,

I am afraid that it will autorotate like the S300 - it uses the piston engine flight model and that is not much good at AR’s. The Jet Ranger uses the Turbine flight model and that is better but it is impossible to use the Turbine FDE in the Piston model - its not our fault - its what we have from MS - BUT apparently the piston FDE is vastly improved in the MS FSX Acceleration pack so if you have that installed then the R44 should perform a whole lot better so I am told - but you are not allowed to hold me to it.

Scotty.

thanks for all that info.

Scotty, Thanks for the info. As long as there is some relection as not to feel like flying with no windows at all. It really adds to the immersion factor too. :) Thanks again and Happy Thanksgiving to you, the entire team and your families.

Best regards, Jeff

Why is the pilot on the left side? He should be on the right side.

Chris,

Why do you say the ‘pilot’ is on the left side and are you saying this from viewing the emergency floats video?

Scotty

Scotty,

You must have decided to take advantage of all that water you were talking about in the blog before this one.

John

Hmmm. Very ironic…eh?

Scotty

hello, to answer Chris remarks, the Pilot is usually on the right side when alone. with double control, the student in on the right and the teacher on the left.

still no date for the delivery ?
please avoid playing with our nerves… :-)

thanks.

Your nerves! How about mine? :-)

Left, right - all the same to me depending on which way you are looking at it.. :-))

Scotty

Hi Scotty,

not the same to me sorry… :-(
all the landmarks are based from the place you are inside the cokpit ; and it’s particularly important when landind for instance.

did the pilote place will be fixed ?

Chris

Chris, you are taking this to seriously - I made a jokey response hence the : -)) symbol and the comment “Depends on which way you look at it” IE from the outside or the inside.

For the benefit of all readers who are interested there is nothing wrong with the placement of the people in the R44 model - In the video the person you see in the port seat is not the pilot and as the pilot flying the aircraft your viewpoint is in the stbd seat looking left at him. End of discussion on this point.

Scotty

any update on the release date ?? if so, will it be before christmas :) kind regards, adam

thanks Scotty, no matter on my side ; I just thought it could be a “miss” avoiding to deal with the pilot place.

thanks for your feedbacks.
Brgds.

Chris, understood - thanks for your posts.

Scotty.

Adam, well Santa is hovering overtime but it’s looking sort of tight-ish but I will ensure that the testing and fixing Elves go without food and water until the task is delivered.. We are working on another little feature at present to make it a even more realistic experience….

More news from me and Santa (and Elves) as and when - thanks for your patience and interest.

Scotty.

Scotty,

Will the nose and belly of the R44 be mapped separately to be able to paint logos and such in those places? Thanks again and I look forward to the release.

George, I asked the man that knows and he says yes to both areas. Paint away!

Mr Del Monte.

Awesome stuff Scotty, thanks for the reply.

Roll on release date !! I notice from the pictures so far that there seems to be a vital instrument missing - The temp gauge for carb heat ! I have flown a couple of 44’s and all were equipped with this gauge. I wonder if the developers could sort this as it is an important gauge and would add significantly to the realism of the sim (especially as its in the default 22’s ).

Scotty, Please ignore the last comment I made. I missed the obvios . Its a Raven 2 not Raven 1 which I normally fly . ( I,m too eager for it . thats my excuse ! but thinks, wouldnt it be nice to have option of raven 1 as well !! )

Helo

Just two weeks to x-mas! The published soon;-)

Sim

eh scotty, we can not wait for more !

so when ?

just a question : will the panel be modifiable (place of instruments and/or other instruments like xp-reality) ?

thanks for your answer ?

Chris,

Should that not be “we canna take it no more Captain”? (For non trekkies it’s one of Scotties famous quotes from Star Trek.)

Anyway carefully avoiding any news ref release dates.. (wot you want to have some news?) and moving on… ref the panel question - well we are not including any tools that allow customisation of the panel as such but of course the panel can be adjusted using the already available freeware and commercial tools from the interweb or by editing the panel.cfg in notepad if you have the skills and knowledge.

What? Release date - your asking again! Goodness you never give me any peace.

Anyway ’till the next time keep safe.

Oh! hang on there was something you were asking was there not? Now what was it? Erm, erm ah! yes I remember a release date. Well the absolute truth is that we are trying to release it this week coming BUT there are still a few ends to tie up on it and it may not happen SO PLEASE if it does not get released this week please accept my sincere apologies that is has not happened but also please do not give me/us any grief over it. We really are doing our best but time is short and we do not intend to release it until we are all happy that the R44 is fit to do so.

Thanks for your help and understanding. More news as and when.

In the meantime I took a video of some of the unique animations that the R44 has in it and I will be posting that in the blogs shortly.

Scotty.

Hello Scotty,

Thanks for the sneeky update……….

What the price ?

Cheers, Tony
