A rare glimpse…

Date: Sunday 17th June 2007 – Location: Chez Scotty – Oxfordshire UK.

A rare glimpse…

Of a mythical entity, one that is shy and is only rarely seen before 10AM. It is rumored that blood does not exist in his veins, being replaced by caffeine. Normally found in his back garden fending off marauding hordes of dive bombing birds from his fish pond, the lesser know ‘Martin Wright’ was spotted at AeroExpo 2007 last weekend at Booker airfield near High Wycombe (UK).

Martin was spotted demonstrating the excellence of the just released VFR Real Scenery Volume 2 to keen viewers by my mobile phone camera, so needless to say we are not talking High Definition video here but I think a glimpse of such a rare beast is best shown despite any quality issues.

AeroExpo 2007 is the second outing for this show that started in 2006. It is a General Aviation show (probably the only real one in the UK this year) and is aimed at the GA pilot with all the kinds of goodies that this sector of aviation could dream off, from biz jets to helicopters to GPS, Avionics and all the more mundane things like engine oil. The weather was fine and pretty hot inside the hangers where the stands were based. Just Flight in the form of the lesser seen Martin and I were there. We were based on a part of the FlightStore stand. The show lasted three days Friday thru Sunday and was much better attended with visitors than last year for sure. Not much to be seen for flight simmers apart from us and the crew from Flight 1 who were in the other hanger, but interest in the JF stand was fairly constant with several real world pilots being very impressed with how well the VFR Real Scenery matched their real world flying – of course it should do as they are real world photos used in the program. Aside from VFR RS 1 and 2, we were demo-ing the upcoming Flying Club Archer III, The Schweizer S300 CBi heli and the every popular and noisy Vulcan in FSX (yes FSX…). Most asked questions were “what is the spec of your computer” and “why does it not run like that on my PC”? I tended to brush off the “is there a bar” here enquiry..

For your interest and amusement perhaps, some pics from the show: Although I am sure that a pic of me sitting on one of Clive Sinclair’s “A” bikes (stupidly small wheels) is not really that amusing : -)

’till the next time,

keep safe,

Scotty
